10. thinking skill I chose: Uncovering motives/inferring
Answer: Goerge wants respect. it's very important for him, he dreams about it when he doesn't have a job. He is ashamed about it and stays in his room but when people show respect to him he goes out more and stays in the neighborhood.

I can infer that by the way he behaves in her house. He doesn't run away and he doesn't steal her pocketbook even though he could.

PART III

16. THE ROAD NOT TAKEN:
The quote says that people should choose and make decisions on their own and not based on other people. That's what the writer does; he chooses the road people take less and not the road that everybody walks on. According to the quote he is actually a wise man

שאלה מספר 5: ii
שאלה מספר 6: Hana is afraid of the General's messenger because she believes the servants have reported her actions to the authorities and the messenger has come to punish her and Sadao.
שאלה מספר 7: Sadao says that the man will live in spite of it all and he sighs after completing the operation because now he has to deal with the true dilemma. It was important to heal the prisoner of war because Sadao sees this as his duty as a doctor. However, now that he has successfully saved the man's life, he must decide whether to release him to the authorities or protect him. Before Sadao began to operate he contemplated throwing the prisoner back into the sea. His obligation as a doctor drove him to operate, but now the question still remains whether to keep him alive or turn him over to the authorities. This dilemma causes him to sigh. (Had the patient dies during the operation he would not have to deal with this question)
שאלה מספר 8: Distinguishing different perspectives.
At the beginning of the story Sadao sees the prisoner as an enemy but also as a vulnerable and dying patient. As a doctor, he decides to operate on him and to try to save his life, but promises himself and his wife that afterwards, they will release him to the authorities. Sadao works out of habit with almost no emotions. Sadao's attitude/perspective seems to change at the end of the story. Sadao guides the prisoner and helps him safely leave his home. He gives him supplies and warns him how to be safe on the nearby island. Clearly Sadao views the soldier as a human being and sympathizes with him.
שאלה מספר 9: iii
שאלה מספר 10: George comes to the Keller's house because he wants to take his sister Anne home. he has just gone to visit his father in jail and now knows the truth about the Kellers. George does not want his sister to stay one moment longer with the Kellers and he has come to take her back home to New York with him.
שאלה מספר 11: Sue resents living next door to the Kellers because it seems she is jealous of them. She tells Anne that her husband Jim admires Chris Keller, who "can do no wrong". This makes it very difficult for her to be the neighbor of the "Holy Family."

שאלה מספר 12: Joe Keller: from Joe's perspective, making money justifies all actions, even if it costs lives of others. Therefore, he saw no fault in sending off broken cylinder heads to be used on fighter planes. In his view, everyone who could, made money during the war even at the expense of lives being lost. To him the war was a means to make money.
Chris Keller: Chris is an idealist and after having fought in the war and watching his own soldiers die, he believes fighting for your country is worth more than money can buy. When he learns that his father allowed broken parts to be shipped off during the war just because his father wanted to make money, he cannot forgive his father for those actions. He perceives loyalty to one's country as the most important factor during the war - and not making money out of it!
